Debbie Verity, Daily Money Manager, C.P.G.

Picture
As a Daily Money Manager I function as a personal financial assistant, specialized in assisting seniors and people with disabilities. My goal is to help you maintain your independence as long as possible by helping you manage your finances when it becomes too much of a burden for you to do so on your own.

I am passionate about using my financial skills to help our most vulnerable adults - seniors and people with disabilities. I can help you whether your needs are simple (such as needing me to set up a financial software program and train you to use it) or complex (monitoring multiple bank and investment accounts, multiple sources of income, payments or multiple bills, and medical billing issues).

I hold a Certificate in Gerontology after having completed a two-year course of study on the challenges of seniors and aging at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, California. This intensive education has made me very knowledgeable about the health and psycho-social needs of seniors and people with disabilities, and how the aging process can vary across our diverse population. I am also well-informed about the availability of senior services in our area, the existing governmental policies as relates to older adults, and the changes that will need to be made to accommodate our rapidly aging population. My culminating project was an internship at the AARP Money Management Program at Bayview Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services in a low-income, diverse neighborhood of San Francisco.

This education, combined with ten years of corporate credit management and banking experience and eight years of direct experience helping seniors with personal finances, provides a solid foundation for my business, Verity Money Management. In order to learn new money management skills and stay abreast of advances in working with older adults, I participate in continuing education offered by AADMM and regularly attend local seminars on issues related to seniors and aging.

Giving back to the community is important to me. I volunteered as a Girl Scout troop leader and local association board member for 12 years. My volunteer work at schools includes PTA board positions, committee chairmanships, and working in the classroom and library at Oak Knoll School, Hillview Middle School and Menlo-Atherton High School. I was recognized with continuing service awards at Hillview and M-A.

I am pledged to uphold a strict code of ethics to act in a professional manner solely on my client's behalf in order to promote their well-being, to maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of their records, to respect their right to privacy, and to treat them with dignity. My services are fully insured with errors and omissions insurance that is underwritten by Lloyd's of London.
